Draft — not yet in forceThis document is a working draft. The operating entity, postal address, and governing law have not been filled in yet, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Questions in the meantime: hello@worldoftruth.co.

This page describes what World of Truth collects when you follow an artist here, why we collect it, who else touches it, and how to get it back or get rid of it. It covers this website only.

The short version: we collect an email address and the list of artists you asked to hear about. We use it to send you those emails. We do not sell it, and you can delete it at any time.

What we collect

  • Your email address, when you submit one of the signup forms.
  • Which artists you chose to follow, and whether you asked to be told when new artists join.
  • Which page you signed up from — the home page, an artist page — so we know what you were responding to.
  • Timestamps for when you signed up, confirmed, and last changed your preferences.
  • A city name, if you use the “bring Akiane to your city” form. This is stored without an email address attached unless you happen to be signed in at the time.
  • A record of emails we sent you — which kind, when, and whether the send succeeded.

We do not ask for your name, your address, your phone number, or a password. There are no accounts to create and no payment details anywhere on this site.

Why we collect it

To send you the emails you asked for, and to send only those. Your artist selections decide what you receive. We rely on your consent, given when you submit a form and confirm your address by clicking the link we email you. Nothing is sent before you confirm.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build profiles from it, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

Cookies

One cookie, and only after you confirm your email: a signed session cookie that keeps you signed in to the feed. It is strictly necessary for that feature, contains no personal information beyond an identifier, and expires after 90 days. Signing out deletes it.

There are no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, and no cross-site tracking of any kind.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process data on our instructions only:

  • Our hosting provider, which serves the website and runs the code that handles your signup.
  • Our database provider, which stores the information listed above.
  • Our email provider, which delivers the confirmation and update emails.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that form submissions come from people rather than bots. It sets no tracking cookie.

Some of these providers operate servers in the United States. If you are writing to us from elsewhere, your information will be processed there.

How long we keep it

Until you tell us to stop. If you unsubscribe, we keep a record that your address opted out — that is what stops us mailing you again by mistake — and delete the rest. If you ask us to delete everything, we do, and that record goes too.

Signups that are never confirmed are deleted after 30 days.

Your choices

  • Change who you follow using the preferences link at the bottom of any email we have sent you.
  • Unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any email, or by replying and asking.
  • Get a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted by writing to hello@worldoftruth.co. We will action it within 30 days.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — for example under the GDPR in the UK and EU, or the CCPA in California — including the right to object to processing, the right to data portability, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We honour all of these requests regardless of where you live, and we will never treat you differently for making one. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us an email address, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, email you about it.
